Information

CAMP DURATION

The camp officially begins on Friday, April 2nd.
The camp's official end is on Monday, April 5th.

CAMP LOCATION

The camp is located at an old stocker's camphouse, Lähteenmäki (Finnish for "Hill by a spring"). The site is in the municipality of Lempäälä, just south of Tampere. Transportation from Tampere to Lähteenmäki is organized.

CAMP FEE & A FEW BASIC RULES

The cost of the camp itself is 50 euros. Travel costs are up to each traveller individually.

The camp is precisely like any Finnish Scout camp - this means that it is strictly non-alcoholic. Also smoking is prohibited outside certain areas, such as the smoking site behind the main building.

ABOUT THE CAMP SITE

The Lähteenmäki camp was formerly a stockworker's camphouse. After it was purchased for Scouting use by the Tampere Evangelist-Lutheran church, a round wooden cottage with a sleeping loft and a fireplace was built there. The main building can accomodate up to about 25 people, and that is were non-Finns are going to sleep. If all the attendees don't fit in, the rest of the Finns will sleep in the cottage.

The main building is an electrically warmed wooden house with a kitchen and long two-storey sleeping lofts, and it is provided with electricity. There will be enough mattresses for everybody sleeping in the main building, so at least non-Finns will NOT need any mattress of their own. However, no other equipment will be granted on the house, so please have your own pillows and sleeping bags. For other equipment to have with you, see our stuff list.

There is a firewood shelter, a good-watered well and a sauna in the yard, too. All the water used will be taken from the well.

PROGRAMME

On Saturday, we have a Tampere-day, including a sightseeing in Tampere and a voluntary visit to some museum or other cultural site in Tampere. The day will end with a sauna by a lake, and it is possible to swim there.

On Sunday, we have hikes of varying lenghts, including some tasks on the way. Attending these hikes is voluntary - if you wish, you can freely stay by the campsite, too. The day will end with a grand bonfire.
